What is a Doula?

“A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible. Countless scientific trails examining doula care demonstrate remarkably improved physical and psychological outcomes for both mother and baby. Doulas have a positive impact on the well-being of the entire family.” 2017 DONA International

Scope of Practice

My scope of practice includes providing informational, emotional, and physical support throughout your pregnancy, birth, and early post-partum.  I do not provide any medical advice nor perform any clinical exams, however I can connect you with resources who are able to provide these services.

Birth Philosophy

Your baby’s birth story starts with you.  I believe everyone deserves a positive and fulfilling birth experience – AND that our bodies are amazing vessels filled with the knowledge and wisdom to give birth. As your doula I will help you unearth what works for you, your body, and your baby.  I am here to support you all along the way.

Informing

  • Connecting you to the resources to help you select the provider, birth environment, and birth plan that fits with the birth story you are seeking for your little one.

  • Creating space for you to raise concerns and seek answers to questions you have.

Inspiring

  • Connecting you with resources and published birth stories of others who share your birthing style.

  • Creating a birthing environment that fits your needs so you feel focused, relax, and safe.

Empowering

  • Providing moral support and connection prior to birth so you feel confident and trust in your body.

  • Offering physical and emotional support during the birthing process so you can connect with your inner strength while remaining calm and ultimately embrace the experience.
